St. Lucia is an almond shaped island with countless coves and beaches waiting to
be discovered. Its colonial towns and quiet fishing villages lend it a timeless
grace. The main town of Castries, in the North, contains most of the islands
resorts. In the southwestern part of the island is Soufriere, with its panoramic
views of the famous Piton peaks rising 2,619 feet from the sea. The highest
point is Mt. Gimie at 3,145 feet above sea level. St. Lucia is 27 miles long and
14 miles wide.
